Frequently Asked Questions - Dental Implant

How do I find a Implant dentist?

This is the most important part of the process. It is important that you find a highly skilled and experienced dentist, and someone that you can trust.

A good place to start is by talking to your own dentist. He or she can advise you in this area and may be qualified enough to carry out this procedure. If not then he/she can recommend a specialist or a ‘periodontist’.

You may find that it involves two dentists: the first one being your general dentist and the second one a specialist. If you have a two stage procedure then you may find that one dentist carries out the insertion of the implant. The second will create and place the replacement teeth or restorations.

Another option is to search for a cosmetic dentist or clinic. There are numerous cosmetic dentistry clinics and it is a good idea to draw up a shortlist of a few ‘possibles’. Once you have done so you can then approach each of them in turn.

Ask friends, family members or anyone else you know who has had an implant. They will be able to recommend their dentist or clinic to you.
