Are there likely to be complications with dental implant?

Q. I want to get a dental implant but I am unsure whether this is such a safe option. Are dental implants prone to infection or is it relatively safe to go ahead with? What possible problems could develop?
A. it is a very safe option if carried out by a competent surgeon. there is always the possibility of complications but they are quite low, i.e if you are fit and well and a non smoker then 10yr survival rates are approx 95%
