My dentist has stopped offering sedation and I can’t have my treatment without it, what should I do?

June 30th, 2011
Q.
I am prone to suffering from pretty bad panic attacks when I have dental treatment. I therefore have to have work done under sedation but my dentist has stopped offering this service and I don\’t know what I can do. What can I do now? I need implant treatment because of pretty bad teeth that came about from stopping going to the dentist because of panic attacke problem. I can\’t have this treatment without being sedated. No chance.,

Do dentists bring in members of the public to ‘practice’ on?

June 27th, 2011
Q.
Hello. I hope you don\’t mind me enquiring but I am an impoverished 58 year old man looking for an affordable way to get implants. When dentists are training to do implants, do you bring in members of the public to \”practice\” on? ,
A.

My dental crown can’t be replaced, now what should I do?

June 27th, 2011
Q.
Today one of my front crowns broke off. I had my 4 front teeth crowned 8 years ago. On visiting the dentist I was given the devastating news that the crown could not be replaced. The root appears to be healthy following an xray. My options are to replace with a denture; root canal ; or dental implant. I am in a state of shock and don\’t have a clue what to go for. The dentist would n

ot commit to advising me of the best option in his opinion and stressed that any work would eventually end up with dentures in the future anyway. Please advise , as it is my front tooth and I work in a school I am dreading what I will look like during any of this treatment not to mention any pain. My dentist said he has temporarily cemented the old crown on but needs me to decide asap what treatment I will go for.,

Would having a dental implant prove to be a solution for my problem?

June 27th, 2011
Q.
Hi I had a root canal done last year that I have now found has not been done properly. To have this fixed I have been told it is possible that the tooth may get cracked as the filling has to be removed and the work all redone, in addition to getting a new crown. I was wondering if having the tooth removed and an implant put in place would be a solution to this problem, and what sort of timescale would be involved. Thanks,

Are you supposed to receive a temporary bridge or other implant when waiting for the final result?

June 25th, 2011
Q.
Hi, are you supposed to have a temporary bridge/implant in whilst the proper implants are being made? I had the teeth pulled last week (which are being replaced by the implants) and haven\’t received any temporary implants, also my dentist hasn\’t told me when the implants will be ready, should I go back to see him? or is this the usual case?,
