What would be the estimated cost for implant supported dentures?

Q. Hello, I am VERY interested in having implant supported dentures. I currently have 4 teeth (2 upper & 2 lower) but my own NHS dentist can remove these as they are not in good condition anyway. What would be an estimated cost of upper & lower implant supported dentures ? I am VERY WILLING to be used for promotional purposes in return for lower costs. ,
A. i would advise a consultation before the teeth are extraced as we may place implants immediately– this can save money the costs will depend on bone quality and quantity, the number of implants used and the type of implants used Guide lines are between 4-6 thousand per jaw if the treatment is used for promotional reasons.

Can I have a dental implant placed in the back of my mouth?

Q. i have one back tooth missing because it was extracted several years ago and would like it back because i\’m finding it hard to eat on the left side of my mouth (where there are no teeth missing) can i have an implant done at the back of my mouth? or do you suggest something else? thanks,
A. Thanks for your question. Implants can normally be placed anywhere in the mouth to replace missing teeth provided there is sufficient bone to anchor them in place. Your first step would be to have a consultation and at this stage the dentist would be able to advise you or your likely suitability and the procedures involved. Hope that this helps. Do you think I’ll need a bone graft?

Q. Hi, my bone is weak on my bottom jaw and very thin and i need an implant there.. will i need a bone graft?? thanks,
A. Thanks for your question. As part of the assessment for dental implants the dentist will take some x-rays and may even take a CT-Scan. This will allow the dentist to evaluate how much bone is available for placing the implants and the most appropriate size of implant to use. If a bone graft is likely to be required then this would normally be discussed at the treatment planning stage as normally would involve extra fees for you. Regards George Glover

Have I wasted my money on lower implants for a denture?

Q. I have lower implant for a denture. The o rings have been replaced many times because the plate gets loose and flops around. I paid thousands of dollars for this thinking I would always have a secure denture. Now I am told that these rings need to be replaced every 6 mos at a cost to me. Now therings don’t even last a month. I was also told it is what I eat that could be the problem. I chose this route of denture replacement because I wanted to resume my normal eating habits, which include corn on cob, steak, nuts, gum. Now to be told this is my problem, I should have gone the simple denture route. I have little jaw and also this is my problem. I have no problems with the abuttments, just the denture plate. Any suggestions, or did I throw 7 grand to the wind or someones vacation. I have only had this for 3 years…..
A. this does not sound normal, plenty of o-ring dentures on implants that are very successful, it sounds to me like your denture does not fit properly

Is crown included in price of dental implant?

Q. Hello Dr Glover, could you tell me if dental crown is included in the price of a dental implant? Also, if I get a dental implant with a crown will this be any better than a crown on its own. Would the crown klast just as long?
A. Hi thanks for your question.

It really depends on where you are looking at prices as some practices quote the implants and the restorations (Crowns / Bridges) seperately which can make it difficult if you are trying to shop around.

In answer to your question about the difference between having an implant with a crown and a crown on it’s own; this really depends if the underlying tooth and root are suitable for supporting a crown.  If not then an implant would be the better option but this can only be ascertained following a detailed consultation with a dental professional.  If looked after the typical lifespan for a crown can be 10 – 15 years, but like implants they do need to be cared for.

I hope that this helps answer your question.
