Is material used for bone grafting artificial?

December 23rd, 2009
Q.
For the bone graft where is the bone taken from? Is it artificial or is actually taken from somewhere else on the body? It all sounds a bit icky to me!

How will I know if dental implant has failed?

December 21st, 2009
Q.
What signs should I look out for when I get my dental implant to check to make sure it has not failed? Is there any kind of behaviour I should refrain from to make sure this does not come about?

Can alcohol impare success of dental implant?

December 21st, 2009
Q.
From what I have read on it I know that smoking can have serious implications whether or not the implant will be sucessful. But what about alcohol consumption? Is this another activity that should be limited or altogether stopped when I first get the implant?

Are there likely to be complications with dental implant?

December 21st, 2009
Q.
I want to get a dental implant but I am unsure whether this is such a safe option. Are dental implants prone to infection or is it relatively safe to go ahead with? What possible problems could develop?

Able to have implant during ortho treatment?

December 18th, 2009
Q.
I am due to have damon braces fitted early in January. However a tooth that has historically been a problem (is a root filled crown premolar)is now very loose and I guess likely to be on its last legs. An implant has been mentioned before but the addditional cost has been a major con. Is it possible to have an implant during ortho treatment or would I need to sort out the errant tooth first? Many Thanks

What is the time limit to get an implant when tooth is removed?

December 17th, 2009
Q.
How long after a tooth is extracted before the teeth around start moving. I had a tooth removed and had been planning on getting a dental implant but now things in my personal life are taking over. How long do I have after tooth extraction before dental implant is not plausible?

Will dental implant require special care when I get it?

December 17th, 2009
Q.
If I were to get a dental implant would I need to pay particular attention to cleaning this area or is it just the same routine with the other teeth? Is there anything special I would need to do for the implant?

Am I right to be worried about dental implant procedure?

December 16th, 2009
Q.
I have just lost a lower premolar. It was a very difficult extraction over 50 minutes to remove. I am thinking about an implant but nervious about how long it will take to put in an implant and if i will have any instruments or equipment in my mouth whilst the procedure is being done. I understand I will have local anesthetic similar to that used for extraction. What happens to the cut gum while the implant is being positioned? Thank you

Is there any insurance that will cover dental implants?

December 16th, 2009
Q.
I am about to have a tooth extracted..eek, and have only just been made aware that my dental insurance,I am with denplan, will not cover or contribute to the cost of an implant. Are you aware of any insurance companies that cover this ? I took insurance to try to get ensure that I could get the best dental treatment and now it looks as though I am going to have to have a bridge which is less suitable and which sounds horrendous. Also, I have been told an implant would cost around £2,500 and a bridge around £1800 does that sound right ….? Thanks for your input -I really would appreciate your feedback/comments. Take care.
