My Dentist Said He Can’t Place A Single Implant. Can This Be Done?

March 21st, 2015
Q.

My problem is that I have a broken post on a root-filled upper canine tooth. Many adjacent teeth are also root-filled [by an endodontic specialist dentist] with posts and crowns. My dentist referred me to an implant dentist who says I need several implants, he cannot just do the one tooth. No doubt the other teeth are not perfect. I am 67, but am loath to consider extracting them and having implants as long as they seem satisfactory. I had no idea that posts could break. Your website seems not to suggest that single implants present problems! Is a single implant possible.

Fillings have broken my teeth, are implants the best option to replace them?

October 16th, 2012
Q.

I believe as a result of dental work i had approx 10years ago, resulted in me loosing 2 of my teeth – Top 2 at the left had side. The 2 fillings that had casued both my teeth to break. In order to fix the problem at the time the dentist inserted a metal rod into the gum, hence i have 2 teeth that are similar to the rest. This however has causing me problems ever since where the false tooth keeps falling off if i chew something like a gum or hard stuff. I have been numerous time to the same dentist, though that particular dentist does not practice there a few of his colleagues have moved elsewhere which i go to. Every few years i have to go back to fix the problem, most annoying thing is that the food gets stuck. To get this permanantly resolved what options do i have that will no cost to much? Many thanks

time frame for when you can have an implant after having a tooth extraction

June 1st, 2012
Q.
i am a 56 year old female andI have just had my front tooth – crown, post and remaining tooth removed. When will I be able to start work for an implant? The temp plate is badly fitting and uncomfortable and the sooner I am able to start the better. Could you also give me some idea of the costs involved. My other front tooth is also a crown, but to avoid costs I would be happy to have a replacemnt for this.,

My new crown was attached to a 30 year old post which has now rusted. What choices do I have now?

Q.
I had a root canal done on an upper tooth almost 30 years ago and a crown fitted. 2 years ago I had extensive work done including implants on my upper teeth and had a new crown fitted onto the root canal tooth for aesthetic reasons. The new crown has now come loose and has come out. The new crown was fitted to the 30 year old post and core which consists of 2 tiny screws which have come loose and are attached to the new crown. One of the screws has rusted! Should my dentist have fitted the new crown to the old post and core or replaced it and what choices are open to me now?,
