Would having a dental implant prove to be a solution for my problem?

August 27th, 2010
Q.
Hi I had a root canal done last year that I have now found has not been done properly. To have this fixed I have been told it is possible that the tooth may get cracked as the filling has to be removed and the work all redone, in addition to getting a new crown. I was wondering if having the tooth removed and an implant put in place would be a solution to this problem, and what sort of timescale would be involved. Thanks,

Had a bad dentist in the past, would a bone graft be able to rebuild gum?

August 18th, 2010
Q.
I had a really bad dentist 10 years ago who root canaled nearly all my bottom teeth then had them extracted..i didn\’t know any better at the time. Now l only have 5 bottom teeth (the front ones). I am 36 years old and have basically no bottom gum and my face is appearing really withdrawn rom the lack of support. I understand the danger of having implants because of the nerve positioning of the bottom jaw. But is there anything l can do to rebuild the gum…would a bone graft risk damage to the nerve? Thanks ,

Can the NHS pay for the dental implant I need?

July 20th, 2010
Q.
Hi, I had my front right upper tooth knocked out at a concert and i went straight to A&E and they put it back in and splinted it to my other teeth for a month. its been two months now and i noticed a lump which turned out to be an abscess. when i went back they showed me my x ray and said that i have an infection, however it is all around the tooth and my root is starting to decay. I\’m having root canal surgery on the 5th of august and they said it is possible that i will lose the tooth there and then. they said the best replacement because of my age, 19, would be an implant and the quoted me £3000. I\’ve just left college and only have a Saturday job so there is no way i am going to be able to afford this. Would the NHS pay or will they definitely not cover dental implants.,

What is involved with the dental implant procedure and how much would it cost?

June 3rd, 2010
Q.
Just been told that a dental implant for my root canal filled tooth with crown (upper right 4) would cost £2,500. I was absolutelty gobsmacked well not literally fortunately! Surely one screw and a crown can\’t cost that much! Granted this was for the dentist to come to my local dental surgery where I am a Denplan client to extract the tooth and start the process and presumably visit on subsequent appointments but it still seems an horrendous expense especially when £450 is quoted online! I am not likely to entrust my teeth to just anyone but can you give me a rough idea of what\’s involved and a rough costing. Many thanks for your help,

Can I get an implant and what would be the average cost?

March 12th, 2010
Q.
Following and abscess, on a filled lower molar, I was referred to Carisbrooke, in Leciester, for root canal treatment. I attended the consultation last night and when the filling was removed it revealed that the tooth was completely split from front to back and so root canal is not a possibility. The teeth either side are healthy and unfilled and so I would not be happy with a bridge. I also do not wat a false tooth and so other than extraction, the only other option is an implant. Assuming I have sufficient bone in the jaw to tap in the titanium ‘peg’, what would be the approximate price for the implant? I currently have a temporary filling and so want to act quickly. Many thanks.,
