My dentist has recommended I have my painful tooth removed but I don’t want to. Is there any other option?

September 18th, 2011
Q.
In 1998 I had a root canal procedure on my bottom right back molar.A crown was fitted. 3 years ago I experienced pain underneath this crown and my dentist prescribed antibiotics. 2 more \’pain episodes\’ followed, approx once a year the last one 2 weeks ago.My dentist is of the opinion that the root canal has failed and that to avoid these infections extraction should be considered. I am reluctant but do not wish to possibly keep on taking antibiotics. Any thoughts. I have had the tooth x-rayed now and am due for extraction on 14 December.,

I am still experiencing pain after tooth extractions and the placing of two implant holders. Is there something wrong?

September 15th, 2011
Q.
I am still experiencing continued pain after my first visit to a recognised Dr Dentist after some two weeks. He extracted 4 front teeth, put in two implant holders and assures me there is no infection. He was very rough with me, he did some for me before which were no problem. Haven\’t had more than 3 hours sleep per night due to the pain . Is this acceptable? I have been taking all sorts of antibiotics and pain killers. I just feel that something is wrong but he assures that is not the case. I have to give it time. Do I need a second opinion?,

My implant treatment was stopped before the abutment was placed. Can I go to the dentist to get it sorted?

September 5th, 2011
Q.
Hi, I underwent a dental implant procedure approx 3 years ago. It was a single implant Upper right central. I had the extraction and the implant placed. This is where my treatment stopped due to funds. The implant has been in there now for 3+ years and im yet to return to have abutment fitted and they procedure completed. (currently partial plate denture) Can I go to another implant specialist to complete the work and can they find out the brand/type of implant I currently have. Many thanks,

Is it the case that the more teeth I have missing the greater chance I will need dentures?

September 3rd, 2011
Q.
I am having tooth 3 extracted. I also had the tooth behind it removed as well. If I do not have tooth replacement, will I likely need dentures in the future? Are my chances of not needing dentures greater with tooth 3 replacved?,

Would I be able to wear my denture while implants settles, or would immediate loading be an option?

August 18th, 2011
Q.
I recently had my UL2 removed, I have decided an implant is probably the way forward, what would be an advisable time before having the implant? & would I still be able to wear my current denture while the implant settles, or would immediate loading be an option for a tooth that doesnt do that much? I am 50 years old non smoker in good health. Thank you.,

How many implants would be needed to replace six of my teeth that are rotten?

August 18th, 2011
Q.
All of my front teeth have become rotten and I am only 21. This is a shock to my confidence. Can I have them all removed and replaced with some nice look implants. It is six teeth that need replacing. How many implants would be required and if you could give me an idea of potential price I would be very thankful.,

I have been recommended dentue implants by one dentist and ceramic implants by another. What is the correct diagnosis?

August 7th, 2011
Q.
I am a woman nearing my 50s with gum problems. they are receding although I have never smoked in my life and feel that I maintain a good level of oral hygiene. I would say that three of my four front lower teeth are in need of replacing, but the problems has arisen that I getting difference versions of how to treat this from different dentists I have visited. One says dentures after implants would be best while the other says ceramic implants could get the job done. Can you give me some help on this matter? I would greatly appreciate it if you could.,
