My Teeth Have Been Damaged by My Lip Piercing. Am I Suitable for Mini Implants?

Q.
I’m 22, and have had my lip pierced since I was 19. Due to a new job I had to take the piercing out but decided I’d outgrown it so I don’t wear it at all now, but since taking it out I’ve noticed it’s done some damage to some of my lower teeth. I’ve been told that in the near future I’ll need a fixed bridge, if not one of those then implants. I’ve looked into them and prefer the sound of mini implants to anything else, but I don’t know if I’m suitable to have them. What do you suggest? I do regret the piercing now, but the past is the past and I can’t change that! I need to focus on what can be done to my teeth now, so any advice you have would be great. Thanks!

Hello, thank you for your question. This is a very common problem with lip piercings, often they can result in the loss of one or two teeth. Mini implants are really used to stabilise a full denture rather than for separate teeth. I think the best thing for you would be a single conventional implant, depending on how many teeth are damaged. Hope this is helpful.
