Q. hi i am 15 years of age and will be 16 this november. my filling came out yesturday and needs to be put back in. i am afraid that when i was a young child i drank many fizzy pops and sweets that has damaged my teeth verry badly. when i was younger i had to have all my baby teeth removed. and because of this i am petrified of thed dentis even taling about it maes me shake and ringe. so would i be able to have general anasthetic when i have a filling done beacsue i cannot go through the pain. thanks. x,
A. Thanks for your question. It\’s extremely uncommon for dental treatment to be carried out under general anaesthetic due to the risks involved. Talk to your dentist about your concerns and anxieties about treatment. There may be able to help you with other forms of managing the anxiety such as sedation. Diet plays a huge part in your oral health and again your dentist should be able to help advise you on this. Thanks George Glover
