I am having problems with my sinus graft, what should I do?

December 3rd, 2012
Q.

I started over a year ago to have three implants done to anchor my bridge. The sinus was moved due to its location close to an implant and synthetic bone was backed and given time to heal. I ended up with a sinus infection over 8 months ago. Since then I have seen an ENT to have the infection scraped from my left sinus and the infection still persists. I have been to an infectious disease doctor to get antibiotics pumped throuhg through an Iv. After six weeks I still have an infection. The dentist finally decided to remove all the packing and anchors for the implant to try and get rid of the infection. All indications are that the infection started when the material was packed into my bone. I know have a hole in my jaw where the sinus is visible. Temporary packing was done to protect the sinus after the procedure to remove all the work that has been done over the last year. The dentist is not sure whether to try it again or not. My question is what can be done to repair the damage where the sinus is visible and where should I go from here. I currently have the antibiotics via the IV for the next three weeks to try to get rid of the infection.
If the infection was in the synthetic packing why did the antibiotic not get absorbed and kill the bacteria once it was in the jaw?

I am experiencing some pressure from an Implant I had fitted 7 years ago, should I be worried?

November 30th, 2012
Q.

Hi, about 7 years ago I had a bone graft followed by an upper lateral incisor implant done. I periodically experience pain above the actual implant. The type of pain is like an ache and increases when I press on the upper gums. The pain also radiates behind my nose. Could this type of pain just be sinus pressure, or could it be directly related to the implant procedure? The implant seems quite solid and strong, however bone loss is always a concern for me since the bone graft procedure. However, I’m only 25 years old. The gums look quite healthy from what I can tell. Any help or advice you can provide would be greatly appreciated! Thank you!

Is there any way to have dental implant treatment on the NHS?

November 30th, 2012
Q.

I had a stroke 16 years ago and lost the use of my arm.As a result I now do everything using my good arm and my teeth.Because of this,my teeth have all began to break and loosen.Would I qualify to have implants done on the N.H.S as a medical emergency as my quality? of life will be drastically reduced without the use of my teeth and would implants be strong enough.I currently have 5 teeth veneered but they keep breaking.I have 2 teeth missing already and another 4 that are possibly going to have to be removed.Would I just need to replace the missing ones or would I be better off having all my teeth removed and full implants ?.I am 46 years of age.

Is it nessessary to have a full set implant in the upper jaw or can I get just the front few done?

November 27th, 2012
Q.

I have only two natural teeth left in upper jaw. I used to have 4 crowns in the front but after many years the root couldn’t hold the teeth anymore. I’ve had them removed. I’d like implants. I’m 56 years old. Can I get just about 8 teeth for comestic purposes in the front. Or must I have the whole top of mouth done. I have lived without back teeth for a long time. I got my crowns done because of broken front teeth in my twenties. I do not have any gum desease.
On the lower jaw I have 9 teeth left. I’m more concerned with the upper ones. I have a small front artificial upper plate, as I cannot bear the full one. Is it nessessary to have a full set implant in the upper jaw or can I get just the front few done. Than you.

November 19th, 2012
Q.

hi

is it possible to have dental implants refitted? one of mine has begun to come loose and i can wobbly the tooth quite a bit with my finger now. will it be ok to have the implant refitted into the gap, or will i have to have another course of treatment to go with it? i really do not want a denture plate as one dentist recommended, so any help you can give would be brilliant.
thank you dr glover

I am not happy with my dental implants, but my dentist won’t listen, what can I do?

November 18th, 2012
Q.

Hello. I am hoping for some advice from a dental expertise in implants. I have spent a lot of money on having my whole mouth made over including three front implants. I now am not satisfied with the outcome, as my gums seem to have changed and my teeth look very long, and the position has changed in my mouth and different from the old look. I feel and wish my dental doctor had explained how gums could change or shrink and showed me the teeth before she put them into my mouth finally. I am very unhappy with the color and with the placement. My dentist thinks they look good so she thinks I should be happy. What should do. many thanks

Are dental implants an option for me, after my illness?

November 18th, 2012
Q.

Hello. Thank you for all the information on the website here dentalimplant.co.uk and would like to ask. It is stated that a dental school may take you on as a patient, please can I have list of places?

I am not sure of the cost of implants and know that I need one or maybe even five.

I had beautiful teeth that I paid over 3,000 for five years ago. They were veneers. I fell ill three years ago with Trigeminal Neuralgia and the operation went wrong and ended up with further complications. My teeth due to the very nature of what I have, began to deteriorate since falling ill.

So have many questions having sobbed all morning with an implant breaking and just had enough of the illness. Can I have implants with what I have ? Can you get finance for teeth if just for a while you are not on a massive income?

If the answer to the last, is possible if I cannot find a dentist school to take me on, then please can I have an appointment?

I have never been so low as before falling sick was such an upcoming law student in my final year and it is amazing how quickly your life is taken from you and right now trying to manage and just want to be able to smile again.

If implants are possible – please can I have a reply, Thank you.

Am I a suitable candidate for bone grafting and dental implants?

November 17th, 2012
Q.

i am 43 and have very severe gum disease which has resulted in me losing quite a few teeth. I have, as a result lost a lot of bone and wear a partial denture. i was considering a fixed denture or implants but my dentist is not qualified in the bone grafting needed to make this option possible. it is causing me some distress now and i’m finding it hard to get the proper advice. could you explain whether bone grafting and implants may be an option and how successful this process is. I am a smoker, but am taking steps to quit. Can you help?

There is a gap between my dental implants and my gums, is this normal?

November 17th, 2012
Q.

I have recently had implants to two front teeth. The problem is when smiling I have a high lip line and because the teeth don’t actually enter the gums there are small gaps which when smiling my friends say look like black areas instead of seeing pink gums. Is this right or should they have rebuilt up the gums to look more natural. Also I feel saliva building up and blowing through the gaps. Surely this cant be right.

How do I keep my dental implants clean and free of infection?

November 16th, 2012
Q.

Hello,
I am seriously considering to undertake All on 4 teeth replacement based on what I read in your article here.
I have 73 years and after the war in Europe the only dental treatment in my region was tooth extraction mostly done by general MD or DIY..
By the age 20 I had most of my back teeth in the upper jaw and in the lower jaw missing.

Thus my jaw bone was not stimulated for over 50 years.
I am retired now and wear dentures.
In the lower jaw I managed to save 4 teeth in front. Dentures are now in need of repair.
I am wearing full denture in the upper jaw and partial denture in the lower jaw.

Have a question about dental hygiene after
All on 4 procedure is completed..
How do I clean those implants to prevent infection and loss of stability of the implant.
Even if implants are from special metal, bacterias can and will collect around implants and cause damage and cause periodontal disease around implants. Are there special techniques and tools to clean thoroughly at least once a day and preferably every time after eating sweets.
Implants will be covered completely covered and invisible and impossible to clean unless I go to a Clinic where they will be able to remove dentures to expose implants and that will significantly increase cost clinic to write a brief article about this important issue.
Many thanks for your help to clarify the maintenance procedures after All on 4 implants are placed in mouth.
Sincerely
