How long are dental implants supposed to last for?

Q. how long are dental implants supposed to last for? i\’ve had mine in for a year and they\’re chipping already i paid on for them too. cost me a fortune. can my dentist replace them do you think? for free that is? he guaranteed they\’d last.,
A. You need to raise that issue with them. T

his is what I say in my tx plan letter \”The definitive bridge/crowns will be made of porcelain fused to metal. Porcelain is a brittle material and in rare occasions can fracture in function. Often these fractures can be smoothed or restored with a tooth coloured material. However, sometimes a large fracture may mean that the bridge/crowns may need to be remade. Past evidence shows that most bridges/crowns will last a minimum of 10 – 15 years.\” and \”Naturally, when dealing with the human body no promises or guarantee can be made regarding the absolute outcome of a procedure. The human body is too variable an entity to allow such predictions. The presumed treatment outcome is based on experience gained from averages, and cannot be specifically predicted. Nonetheless, I shall be responsible for all the restorations that I place for a period of 3 years. Experience has demonstrated that this is sufficient time for any latent problems to manifest. It will be your obligation to return regularly for professional cleaning and for dental appointments so I can review your rehabilitation. You need to maintain meticulous oral hygiene and remain as plaque free as possible. Most of the problems encountered after a dental rehabilitation are usually the result of patient’s neglect of oral hygiene. I cannot stress too strongly the need for your total cooperation in maintaining meticulous oral hygiene during all of this preliminary phase of your care. You should reduce your intake of refined carbohydrates and maintain a nutritious diet that does not contribute to your oral problems. For the period from 3 – 5 years after I have placed your restorations I will be either fully or partially responsible for all the restorations that placed as long as the above obligations have been observed.\” and I see that as reasonable. It really depend on what has been agreed at the onset of tx.
