What are the chances of getting an infection in the implant procedure?

Q. What are the chances of infection with the implant procedure? What preacutions should I be taking if i am to undergo this treatment? what should i look for in the dentist? what standards should they have in place and sterlisation procedures? Hops you can answer these questions for me. I am a bit of a worryer.,
A. Thanks for your question. All dental practices in the UK that undertake implant procedures do so under rigourous cross infection control procedures. The implants themselves are completely sterile when they are supplied to the practice and the packaging is sealed with tamper evident materials to ensure that this remains the case. Any items of equipment that are not single use are disinfected and sterilised between patients and many items are single use and are disposed of. The dentists, assistants and the treatment room will all wear appropriate protective clothing which for the treatment staff would normally consist of surgical drapes and hats which are worn over their normal uniform. The gloves that the treating dentists wear are also sterile. It’s understandable to be concerned about such things, but chat to your dental practice and I’m sure that if you wanted they’d be more than happy to show you their procedures and processes for how they keep your treatment safe.
