I have a gap between my front teeth which would be the best options veneers, braces or bonding?

February 20th, 2012
Q.
I have a gap between my two front teeth which seems to be widening. Do I need veneers or is there any new technology out whereby the gap can be filled? Kind regards,
,

I feel that I need a second opinion, what do you think?

July 2nd, 2011
Q.
Dear Dr Solanki I am a 38 year old male (former non-heavy smoker) and have last year been diagnosed with advanced peridontal disease. My dental hygiene has always been reasonable but my doctor suggested that I may have genetic predospisition to the disease – in her words she was quite surprised to see such advanced form in someone so young. I have then undergone several advanced treatments including root scaling and planning and am continuing to visit my perodontist regularly for individual area treatment. My doctor is of the opinion that I am responding well to the treatment and she believes that the disease is almost under control. However, since the treatment I have noticed substantial shrinking of the gum at the back of both bottom and upper jaw – some of the roots are becoming distinctly visible and there are considerably gaps between the teeth. My front teeth appear normal and healthy. I enquired about the bone grafting procedures with my dentist who basically told me that there was nothing they can do since the loss of the bone is quite substantial. She also mentioned that in the current condition my teeth are much more accessible for treatment so covering the exposed roots with anything may only alleviate my condition. On the other hand I am quite concious of the fact a couple of my teeth are somewhat mobile now and the cosmetic effect of gum recession is making me anxious about my own smile. I work in a professional environment so having a nice smile, which I always have in the past, is extremely important. Therefore, I would like to seek a second opinion on whether, once my condition is under control, there may be advanced bone grafting treatments available to replace the lost jaw bone and also whether there are any cosmetic options available to cover the exposed roots. Yours gravely worried,,

My dentist seemed like he was charging me more than he should’ve done, what do you think?

March 24th, 2011
Q.
Dear Dr Bohara, I am in need of your advice please. I had veneers done by an apparant top cosmetic dentist in London. When I had my teeth prepped and had temporaries on, I requsted some change. The dentist told me that if I wanted these changes done, that I would have to pay the full fee again. Bearing in mind that I was in temporaries and that no final veneers had been made, he wanted me to pay for the whole treatment twice. Can you please tell me if this is acceptable practice? To charge patients in advance for veneers that have not been made? Also, he made every effort to charge me extra and get me to spend as much as possible. When I was in temporaries for 2 weeks, he insisted that I needed to see the hygienist 3 times at an extra expense. When my finals were fitted, I immediately noticed gaps between the veneers and big black triangles. When I questioned him, he told me that it was my fault as my gums were in bad condition, yet when I saw the hygienist and the dentist himself before the finals were fitted, I was assured that my gums were healthy so he is trying to cover himself for the poor aesthetics. He then offered to fill the gaps and triangles at an additional cost, and told me I needed a gum graft. I feel he is simply using every opportunity to create errors so that I am forced to keep paying for them, yet I cannot understand how he could think to charge me again for the whole treatment when I was still in temporaries, then ask me to pay for him to fix the mistakes with the finals. iI would be grateful for any advice. He is not interested in anything other than money. Thanks very much,
