Can I get bridge to replace unstable bridges?

Q. Dear Dr Moore I have had a bridge fitted at the front as my two front teeth were knocked and became very unstable. I am considering implants but I’m not sure if that can happen now I have had a bridge . What is the procedure ? What happens to the two teeth that have been filed down to support the bridge .Plus what are the cost implecations , how long does it last . Apologies for al of the questions
A. The implants are still possible if there is still enough bone, verifiable with xrays or a ct scan. The bridge will normally be replaced and the implants fitted followed by the fitting of a temporary bridge. The 2 teeth adjacent to the gap will be crowned at the end of treatment.

What treatment would be best to replace lost crown?

Q. My crown that I got three years ago has fallen out. It was feeling strange in my mouth abit loose sometimes when i bit down. Now, it is gone at there is once again a horrible gap in my mouth that makes me hate to smile. What of the toth replacement options would you say is best for me? The rest of my teth are in good conditiona and there is no gum disease.
A. You should consider an implant supported crown if it isn’t possible to place another crown on the tooth. if you opt for a bridge it will probably entail drilling down other teeth.

Crown has fallen off but what can be done to fix it?

Q. A year ago I went ahead and got a dental crown but now the tooth has fallen off and there is a gap where there was not. What can I do to have this fixwed up?
A. You may need to consider either a new crown, a bridge across the gap or a dental implant to fil the space. It depends on the condition of the remaining root and adjacenet teeth. If you would like to come to my clinic I would be happy to take a look for you to help you decide

What would be the cost of an implant and crown at your practice?

Q. What is the typical price of a dental implant at your practice Dr Fahey? Also enquiring about a crown attachment price as well? How long would this treatment usually take at your practice including recovery time and what not?
A. It all depends, and without a consultation of your specific situation and requirements it is hard to be categorical on this. I would say our back teeth start from £2500 and our front teeth start from £2850, these prices are complete with crown and with a 5 yr guarantee (providing you follow a few basic instructions like regularly seeing the hygenist etc…)

Is it possible to get implants and dentures on the same day?

Q. Do you know Dr Moore if it is at all possible to have implants and dentures fitted on the same day. It is for my upper mouth that I am asking and I think I would possibly need a partial denture if this does in fact work with implants. I am issing four teeth scattered closely together due to an accident. I look forward to your response.
A. In this situation I would try to fit the implants and provisional teeth at the same time, avoiding dentures altogether if possible. The implants are then completed with the final crowns in 3-4 months. Let me know if you would like to come to my clinic, I would be very happy to help you. Regards  andrew

How long after implant placement will I get a crown?

Q. Hello Dr Glover, I just had my dental implant put in and everything sem okay. but can you tell me when it will be time to get my dental crown attached. Is it a lengthy time to wait?
A. Hi Thanks for your question.

The time it takes to get your finished crown can vary from patient to patient and depends on the speed of the healing and integration process.  The implant needs to be given time to knit with the bone, typically at least 3 months.  Generally from there you can be anything from 8 weeks upwards to getting the final crown.

The dentist who placed the implant will be able to advise you on the timescales likely to be involved in your case.

What should I do as dental crown keeps falling out?

Q. Hello Dr Bohara, I am writing to you today as I haev a dental crown and have had so for a few years. The problem is that it has fallen otu twice and I have had to get it put back in. Hey presto it has happened again. What should I do? Should I pay to get it put back in again or just go for something else? More to the point why does this keep happening? Is it my dentists error or my own?
A. Hi

Unfortunately it is impossible to say whey this keeps on happening. Ther could be many reasons i.e the foundation is not strong enough, there could some form of interference when biting, etc.

I would vist the dentist again and express your concerns and see what are your options.

Should I go for an implant or crown?

Q. Hello Dr Moore, would you always prescribe a dental implant over other treatment like crowns? My dentist has said I can have either but I am thinking about the cheaper option in crowns? Would you say it was better in the long run to get implants?
A. It isn’t normally a choice between a crown or an implant. A crown is used if the root od the tooth is sound and the tooth can be saved. If the tooth can’t be saved then a bridge or an implant is usually used, I would nearly always find that an implant would work the best.

Do I need an implant for missing tooth or will a crown suffice?

Q. Hello Dr Bohara, I only have one tooth missing and I need to decide on what treatment to get. I think maybe just getting a crown on its own would suffice, but would I need to get an implant and then get a crown. I don’t see why seen as there is only one tooth missing.
A. A crown cements or screws into the implant (which acts like a root).
