My implant has failed and the area is infected, what should I do now?

Q. Hello i was due to have my bridge placed yesterday after waiting months for my implant to fail and typically when i got there i was told it was infected and that the implant would have to be removed! he never said if he was going to replace it or not so what should i expect?,
A. Thanks for your question. I\’m sorry to hear that your treatment is not proceeding as planned. You really need to discuss with your dentist what the next steps are. If there has been infection then this would normally be allowed to heal before any other implants are placed if there is sufficient bone. It\’s important that you keep your oral health in optimum condition to allow the healing process to take place. Regards George Glover BDS MSc
