What treatment is available for missing teeth?

Q. One of the teeth toward the back of my mouth has been removed due to decay. My dentist has suggested that I have an implant or even dentures. Dentures sound like they should be for an old man and imaplnts seem quite expensive. I have been looking into a bridge as another option. Is this possible?
A. A bridge is an option if there are teeth either side of the space, however it does involve drilling teeth down and this can cause problems in the future. An implant is an independent tooth that sits in the space without the need to drill down the adjacent tooth so is often a better long-term solution.
