Would it be a good idea for my 78-year old mother to go ahead with dental implants?

Q. Hello, this is a question for my 78 year old mother. She\’s had dentures in since she was very young and had several replacements throughout her life. She is looking for a more permanent solution but is frightened that her age and fragility is going to get in the way of treatment. She also has type 2 diabetes and anaemia. What do you think Dr? Would it be a good idea for her to have the implants or can you recommend anything else? Thank you, Melinda.,
A. Thanks for your question. Your mother would really need to have a consultation to determine if dental implant treatment would be an option. The amount of bone would need to be assessed as over time this shrinks. Your mother\’s general health would also need to be taken into account.
