Can the NHS pay for the dental implant I need?

Q. Hi, I had my front right upper tooth knocked out at a concert and i went straight to A&E and they put it back in and splinted it to my other teeth for a month. its been two months now and i noticed a lump which turned out to be an abscess. when i went back they showed me my x ray and said that i have an infection, however it is all around the tooth and my root is starting to decay. I\’m having root canal surgery on the 5th of august and they said it is possible that i will lose the tooth there and then. they said the best replacement because of my age, 19, would be an implant and the quoted me £3000. I\’ve just left college and only have a Saturday job so there is no way i am going to be able to afford this. Would the NHS pay or will they definitely not cover dental implants.,
A. Hi. Unfortunately dental implants are not provided on an NHS basis. Unfortunately when a tooth is knocked out the prognosis for the tooth can vary from person to person and unfortunately many people do indeed ultimately lose the tooth. There may be other alternatives such as a bridge or partial denture ask your dentist for all the options. Many practices also offer ways to spread the cost of dental treatment.
