I Need a Filling But Suffer From Dental Anxiety. What Can Be Done?

May 28th, 2015
Q.

Hi there, I’m 14 and have a massive problem with dental work while conscious. I have needed a filling for over a year but backed out because the process of numbing went wrong and I just couldn’t handle it. I was supposed to get a referral to arrange what could be done but never did. I’m going back to get another referral but what will they do, and what can I do?
I was put completely to sleep when I was younger to have 10 teeth removed which wasn’t so bad, but when I had one awake it sent me crazy! I’m not sure why I can’t cope with being conscious during treatment, but I just can’t and I don’t know what to do.

January 26th, 2013
Q.

My mower tooth had a hole about 3 years ago hole was on the side rather large had a dentis fill it with white hard stuff and it was more a less good till the last few weeks firstly I had very bad pain from the tooth after about 3 days I had to go to the dentist and he X-ray my tooth in question and said its inflamed all he did then was give me a weeks dose of antibiotics 500 ones I couldn’t eat for days couldn’t even touch the tooth even eating watery soop that was painfull after about 5 days after I could eat some soft things all was getting better and now three weeks on I grinded my tooth slightly and I heard/felt a type of cracking sensation but no pain few days after I couldn’t put much pressure on the tooth again enough to eat but it’s there sort of thing I’m just worried I’m going to eat something that’s going to crack the tooth and how painfull would that be ?? Please give me some advice on what could I do apart from go to the dentist. Many thanks

Would I be able to get veneers rather than crowns for my mostly discoloured teeth. Could I qualify for braces?

September 15th, 2011
Q.
I am a lone parent on income support. I dont pay for treatment. my front 6 top teeth need treatment and my dentist said i could get crowns. Is there another alternative i could opt for than crowns as these wont improve my self confidence etc. Do you know if I would be entitled to veneers rather than crowns as my 6 top teeth arent worth being there now they r mostly fillings and discoloured. also i have over lappin bottom front teeth, I\’m 32 if i had some back teeth removed do you think I would qualify for a brace of some kind to make them straight which should jave been dealt with whrn i was a child. i get a great build up of plac therefore need lots of scales to remove it but it returns within weeks. i do brush and rinse also floss.,

Q.
I am 19 and im fed up with my teeth, they have always put my smile down and made me very self concious.. Some are missing and there are fillings in nearly all of the back ones. I am thinking of just pulling them all out and fitting implants.,
