How much will the dental implant procedure hurt?

Q. I am seriously thinking about getting implants to make up for the gap where two teeth are missing in my mouth. I am sure I read somewhere that having gaps is not all that good for the jaw? The surgery does not sound all that nice what with drilling, so I was hoping you could alleviate my fears a bit? What about pain afterwards, when the sedation wears off?
A. You won’t feel anything during the procedure as local anaesethic will be used. Most people need to take 1-2 painkillers but nothing more than that in most cases.
