I feel that the quoted price to replace my crown with an implant is excessive. Or would you say it is accurate?

August 11th, 2011
Q.
I have had a crown on my front tooth for around 14 years. It has become loose in the last 5 years and I have had to have it re adhered several times (s ince pregnancy). Xrays show that the root canal has two fractures in it where the rod sits. I have been told the best possible course of action is an implant. I had the moulds taken and measurements and xrays etc and paid £150 for this and then was given a breakdown of costs for this – for a ceramic post etc I am quoted £2650. This seems somewhat excessive. Is this about right? I cannot justify this on one tooth.,

After getting an implant more than 10 years ago I am getting a sharp pain the gum surrounding the area. What is the problem?

August 8th, 2011
Q.
I had a top front dental implant more than 10 years ago and recently I am having pains in the gums that are sharp or in my assumption the same as someone who has pain associated with cold to their teeth. There is also a popping sensation inside the gums and tooth. The pain is not constant, but when it\’s there it really hurts. What kind of problems could be causing this type of pain after so many years?,

Would implants be able to help in case where there is internal (or external) resorbtion of the tooth?

August 7th, 2011
Q.
Hi, I have what I think my dentist called an internal or external resorbtion of one of my lower front teeth ( where it dissolves and corrodes from the inside ) I\’ve had it now for over a year and decided to leave it there as it wasn\’t causing any serious pain, just the occasional tingle or slight ache. The last 3 days though it\’s been causing me strong aching pain and is very sensitive to any pressure from eating, biting etc… Is this resorbtion going to cause further problems if left? Like spreading to other teeth or into my jawbone? Will an implant be the best option, as the tooth is dead but just corroding away inside? Is this a common reason for implants and does it pose any problems for implant purposes, or do you just remove the resorbing tooth and replace it? Any advice,

I have been recommended dentue implants by one dentist and ceramic implants by another. What is the correct diagnosis?

August 7th, 2011
Q.
I am a woman nearing my 50s with gum problems. they are receding although I have never smoked in my life and feel that I maintain a good level of oral hygiene. I would say that three of my four front lower teeth are in need of replacing, but the problems has arisen that I getting difference versions of how to treat this from different dentists I have visited. One says dentures after implants would be best while the other says ceramic implants could get the job done. Can you give me some help on this matter? I would greatly appreciate it if you could.,

I have been told that implants would not be suitable unles my teeth are ‘perfect’. Any ideas?

August 4th, 2011
Q.
I have the four upper front teeth missing and wear a denture. A specialist told me that because of my bite implants would not be suitable, he said the teeth need to be in a perfect state. I do not want to wear a brace to get them in a perfect state, any ideas?,
