Would it be okay to wait an implant after tooth extraction before getting an implant?

Q. At the age of 22, I have just had one of my molars extracted because it was infected. When is the optimum time to get an implant? Currently I am not in the best financial position and could therefore do with waiting a year, but I have been reading about changes in the bone structure after extraction and if success is much greater with immediate placement, then it would be in my best interests to have treatment earlier.,
A. We always advise if it is possible to have the implant placed as soon as possible after the extraction, this is due to the bone as soon as the tooth is removed you do start to loose bone around the site. You can wait a few months and it will be ok, I would try to avoid leaving it for a year. There are payment options where you can spread the cost of the treatment over 5 years. P
