Am I able to get implants now that gum disease is stable?

Q. I had gum disease but I have finally managed to rid myself of this disgusting disease. I have been in need of dental implants for a while but have been waiting for the gum disease to go away. Am I okay to get implants as long as there is no sign of gum disease?
A. It is important to have the gum disease stabilised before any implant treatment. It is very important to maintain good oral hygiene and see the hygienist regularly after the implant treatment is completed.
