Can a bridge be supported by teeth that have been heavily filled?

Q. I\’m seriously considering a dental bridge but i have deep fillings in the surrounding teeth, can the bridge be supported by those teeth that are in that condition? i would like the bridge to replace 2 missing teeth.,
A. Hi thanks for your question. If the teeth that would be supporting the bridge are heavily filled then this may not be an ideal option as the teeth may not be strong enough to support the load placed on them. You would need to discuss the options with your dentist, perhaps dental implants would be a more secure solution. Regards George Glover
