I suffer from TMJ problems, would dental implants make it worse?

Q. Hello, I suffer from bad TMJ problems but I am in dire need for implants because I have several missing teeth. Would the implant procedure make my TMJ worse do you think? or could it improve it? I already suffer badly from it, I don\’t want to make it even worse! Thank you.,
A. You would need to have a consultation with an experienced practicioner who would discuss all the options with you and how this may affect your TMJ problems. The TMJ problems can often be caused by the occlusion (how the teeth meet) being incorrect or inbalanced, and it may be that implants could help restore the balance. It\’s important that your overall dental health is considered. Regards
