I’m Anxious About Having Dental Treatment But Really Want My Smile Back. What Can Be Done?

Q.
Hi there. My teeth are awful, and many are missing. I’ve never been able to get them sorted because I didn’t have much money but I feel as though now I’m doing much better financially so it needs to be done. As desperate as I am to have a beautiful smile, I am terrified of the amount of dental work I’m faced with because my teeth have gotten really bad and I suffer from general anxiety, which I suppose has stemmed from my lack of confidence with regards to my appearance. What options are available to me and is there support available for anxious patients? Thank you.
A.
Hello, thank you for getting in touch. Your teeth could be saved by a combination of bridges and crowns, or if they are very bad you could be looking at having them removed and replaced with dental implants. Many practices are able to do this in just one day. As for the anxiety, most practices offer sedation so that you will be relaxed during the procedure(s) but still able to communicate with the dentist. Good luck!
