Does age have any effect on being able to get dental implants?

Q.
I am in my early 70s but would like to get dental implants. My upper teeth are fine but I only have 9 lower teeth remaining in a good condition and would need to get the rest removed beforehand. Would it be advisable to get a partial or complete denture in my case? Also, age will not make a difference, will it?

What is involved in the dental implant procedure?

I am just writing to find some more details on the dental implant procedure, and how long it actually takes. When I go to get my tooth extracted it it the norm to get the implant put in straight away or will I have to wait some time? If so, how long? Is there a temporary tooth available when teeth are extracted?

After tooth extraction, before the implant is inserted, are you given a temporary tooth or something to hid the area where there is a missing tooth. I obivously ask because of aesthetic reasons as the tooth in question is right at the front of my mouth and would be easily noticeable.
