Dental bridge dental implants

December 2nd, 2011
Q.
At the moment my front six upper teeth consist of a three-tooth bridge (which is 23yrs old) and three teeth on a partial denture, which also contains three other teeth which are missing from the back of my mouth, two on one side, one on the other.(I have had the denture for three years, after the three tooth bridge I had to match the present bridge sheared off and couldn’t be replaced.) I have recently inherited some money, and would like to have all those nine teeth replaced by implants. Is this possible?,

Root canal sinus lift bone graft

December 2nd, 2011
Q.
After the removal of my UR back molar due to bone loss I had to have root canal on the next UR molar which now has to be extracted as it cracked across. They advised I would need sinus lift and bone graft before an implant could replace the tooth. My dentist is advising I don’t need a sinus lift but would extract then do a bone graft at same time as first stage implantation. Is this a secure way to go or should I have 1st stage implant after the bone graft has healed? Thanks for your advice – I’m confused!,

bone growth dental implants

December 2nd, 2011
Q.
Over the last year I had the UR back molar removed due to bone loss and the second UR was successfully root canaled but then cracked across so I need to have it removed and an implant placed. My dentist wants to remove and do a bone graft simultaneous with the implant pin and then leave for 5-6mths for the bone to grow. She says this is safe and has done it before although I understand from this site that bone graft is normally done before inserting the implant pin. I was advised that I would need a sinus lift & a bone graft – my dentist doesn’t think the sinus lift is necessary as I have not had the tooth removed yet. Very confused want to do the right thing – what do you advise?,

How much will an implant dentist charge to extract a tooth?

November 25th, 2011
Q.
I am looking into the cost of implant treatment to replace a pre-molar crown that needs extraction due to a longstanding infection in the root which flared up recently. I have been advised that the extraction should be done as soon as possible, and that there is some bone loss due to the infection. Is there any reason why my usual NHS dentist should not do the extraction prior to implant treatment? Or would you advise that the specialist doing the implant treatment should do the extraction? Thanks for your help.

What action should I take to fix a broken false tooth?

November 25th, 2011
Q.
I have an old type bridge that was fitted 25 years ago – the back tooth being crowned, with a metal bar running along the roof of my mouth to the front, where a “false” tooth is attached. This has worked perfectly well for me for 25 years but unfortunately today the front tooth has broken. What would be my best course of action – a dental implant or dentures! Remembering that the back tooth will also need to be re-crowned I presume! Could u please also advise approximate costs involved if possible. Many thanks,

Does my dentist have to cut into my gum to see an infection?

November 25th, 2011
Q.
My oral surgeon is not sure why my dental implant/tooth is a little loose and some infection is in there. Can they easily remove the tooth to view the implant? He wants to cut into my gum!,

Are there any risks associated with the summers technique?

November 25th, 2011
Q.
Could the sinus be lifted without having to graft bone? My dentist was talking about summers lift and did not suggest grafting. Also – if I have a tendency to have blocked sinuses – am I taking a risk? What is the risk of damaging the sinus membrane and what is the recovery process?,

My jaw bone is weak due to cancer therapy, what can I do to get implants?

November 25th, 2011
Q.
I had tobgue cancer about 6 years ago and it has resulted in losing my tongue and 1/2 of my bottom teeth removed. My bottom jaw bone was cut during surgery and then screwed back together. The screws came out a year later, through my face. Presently, my jaw has shifted as well as all my remaining teeth. I look very odd. I have thought about implants but I was told my bone can’t hold them due to radiation. Is there anything you can do or even know of anything that can be done to improve my “looks”. I realize how lucky I am to be here 5 years after this diagnosis, but I would like to look a little bit more normal than I do right now. I have alot of support from family and friends but would like to do this for myself. Thank you for your imput.
