Some of my teeth are sensitive after building up teeth with fillings. Dentists says I need crowns but I can’t afford it. Advise?

December 27th, 2013
Q.

my teeth had worn down, due to no teeth at the back,& my teeth were very sensitive,& painful,my dentist said he would advise crowns, which i could not afford,he said he could build my teeth up which would make a difference to how they looked & this would cost me just under £1000. I had 15 teeth built up,which i was really happy with, but now after 3 months i am getting sensitivity in some, & little holes coming on the corners, but my dentist says “well the build up is only fillings”you need crowns, He took an exray & said one of the front teeth that is sensitive now really needs root canal treatment, this cost me £1,013 what can i do . I can not afford crowns ,which he says would cost me about £7000.please advise.I feel as if he is just trying to get more money out of me.

I’ve had my tooth removed because of an abscess, will the abscess heal up on it’s own now or do i need antibiotics?

August 19th, 2013
Q.

Dear Dr Moore,
I had a filling fall out quite some time ago, stupidly I left it like this and my tooth eroded away leaving only a small amount visible. Yesterday I noticed a slight swelling on the gum above the tooth I phoned my dentist and they seen me today and removed the tooth. What I don’t understand is if this is the end of the problem? Will the abscess just go away by itself now the rotten tooth has been removed. I am pregnant and do not want any infection to harm my baby. Should I have been given antibiotics or will I be ok just gargling salt water and keeping the area clean as my dentist instructed me to do.
Thank you for your help!

I am 18 years old, can I have All on 4 dental implants to replace my broken teeth?

January 30th, 2013
Q.

I Absolutely hate my teeth, I’m always ashamed to smile or talk around people because I don’t want them to see my teeth. I have had 17 fillings in 14 different teeth. I’ve broken two of them into pieces and my dentist just stuck them back together with a filling. My teeth are extremely painful for anything hot or cold and I can hardly use metal silverware because it sends a shock directly to a nerve that was exposed before the metal filling in two separate teeth. Dental problems run in my family as is, my mother’s two bottom front teeth never grew in after she lost her baby teeth, and she now has full dentures at age 35 because of some bone disease that made them slowly fall out or something. My father’s teeth are all rotten and cavity infested, even though he brushes his teeth multiple times a day. I really don’t want to end up like that, and I want to fix the problem before it worsens to the same level as my parents. I want to be able to smile and speak confidently, and to be able to actually eat like a normal person. I was wondering if implants would be an option at my age, (18 years old) and if it is possible to have all of my teeth extracted and replaced with implants at the same time. I was looking at the clear choice website about the all-in-4 procedure. Thank you so much in advance for your help.

Fillings have broken my teeth, are implants the best option to replace them?

October 16th, 2012
Q.

I believe as a result of dental work i had approx 10years ago, resulted in me loosing 2 of my teeth – Top 2 at the left had side. The 2 fillings that had casued both my teeth to break. In order to fix the problem at the time the dentist inserted a metal rod into the gum, hence i have 2 teeth that are similar to the rest. This however has causing me problems ever since where the false tooth keeps falling off if i chew something like a gum or hard stuff. I have been numerous time to the same dentist, though that particular dentist does not practice there a few of his colleagues have moved elsewhere which i go to. Every few years i have to go back to fix the problem, most annoying thing is that the food gets stuck. To get this permanantly resolved what options do i have that will no cost to much? Many thanks

Filling has come out on root canalled tooth and dentist says I now need an implant. Is this normal?

August 26th, 2011
Q.
2 years ago I had a root canal done on my top left tooth (no 5 I think). Since then the filling has come out and the tooth has broken, Now my dentist is telling me I will have to pay for an implant. I want to know is it normal for this sort of thing to happen and shouldn\’t the tooth have been capped or anything when the root canal was done?,

I am in need of dental treatment, but there are no available dentists nearby. Any advice?

June 13th, 2011
Q.
My dental state is very bad at the minute and being out of work, I am having to rely on NHS until I get back on track employment wise. The problem is that my regular dentist suddenly died two years ago half way through my treatment and reconstruction service. The surgery was closed as a result and I was offered no alternate surgery nor any help if finding another surgery willing to invest the time and effort into giving me my smile back. I am extremely self conscious, I never smile. My left canine basically disintegrated and broke leaving me with an interrupted smile. All the surgerys in my area and within a 50 mile radius are not accepting new patients and havent been since this occured. From my own observations, I need several fillings, some polish and hygiene work, and obviously either an implant or bridge on my upper left canine. Is there any advice you could offer me, my dental state is really affecting me emotionally and mentally. Thanks in advance,,
