Will the gums swell up and be really painful when

Q. Will the gums swell up and be really painful when I get my dental implant? This procedure seems quite major from what I have read about it. Drills equal nasty in my opinion.
A. Hi there.  Thank you for your question.

It depends on where in the mouth you need implants and how the surgery is going to be carried out.  Some people do experience some discomfort after treatment which is to be expected.  This should be easily managed with pain killers.

If you are anxious then your dentist may be able to offer sedation in addition to local anaesthetic.

I hope that this helps.

Kind Regards
