Q.
Dear Dr Moore I am a 54 year old male and have several teeth missing on the lower left and upper right jaw and am now considering having implants. As a teenager I was diagnosed with idiopathic hypoparathyroidism and require a daily dose of Vit D and calcium. I have also been told that I have oral lichen planus and in the past I have had quite a lot of problems with oral candidiasis, mouth ulcers and a sore tongue. These problems have lessened since 2000, when I had some amalgam fillings removed and made changes to my diet. In light of the above, do you think that having implants poses a particular risk? If I have implants, would you advise me to consider all-ceramic implants? Finally, can you suggest who I might contact for treatment in the UK? Thanks in advance for any help you can give me with this.
