What are the chances of a dental implant failing?

Q. Hi, what are the chances of a dental implant failing when you have previously had gum disease problems? I had it over a year ago and have waited all this time for implants, i\’m desperate for them NOT to fail, thank you for any advice.,
A. Hi. If the gum disease has been treated and the bacteria levels in the mouth are extremely low and your oral hygiene is excellent then the risk of dental implants failing will be reduced. You should continue to have regular visits with the dental hygienist throughout the treatment and afterwards. Regards. George Glover
